Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026. This policy explains how Fogment Labs (“Fogment”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit fogment.com. We are committed to compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and, where applicable, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
1. Who we are
Fogment is an independent crypto-offer comparison and editorial research website operated by Fogment Labs. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can reach our data-protection contact at privacy@fogment.com.
2. What data we collect
| Data | Why we use it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Technical / session cookies required to load and secure the site | Keep the site working, remember your preferences, prevent abuse | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Aggregated analytics data (pages viewed, device type, rough region) via Google Analytics | Measure traffic and improve content | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — only after you accept |
| Referral / click identifiers when you use an affiliate link | Attribute a partner commission and analyse which offers help readers | Legitimate interest / consent |
| Email address, if you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us | Send the content you requested and reply to enquiries | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
3. Cookies and tracking
We use two categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the site to function and for security. These are always set and cannot be switched off.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics (loaded through Google Site Kit) to help us understand site usage. These are blocked until you click “Accept all” in our cookie banner. If you click “Reject”, only strictly necessary cookies are used and no analytics data is collected.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by clearing this site’s local storage in your browser, after which the banner will reappear.
4. Affiliate and referral data
When you click a partner or “deal” link, a non-identifying referral token is passed to the partner so they can credit us with a commission. This token is not linked to your name or email and is used in aggregate only.
5. Legal basis for processing
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. Where we rely on legitimate interest, we have balanced that interest against your rights and freedoms.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to: access your data, rectify inaccuracies, erase your data (“right to be forgotten”), restrict or object to processing, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, email privacy@fogment.com.
7. Data retention
We keep analytics data in aggregate for up to 14 months, newsletter records until you unsubscribe, and correspondence for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required by law.
8. Third parties
We share data only with processors needed to run the site: Google (analytics), our email provider, and the affiliate partners you choose to engage with. We do not sell personal data.
9. Children
This site is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
